Herc’s Seen Capt. Kirk & The Fonz Return To BETTER LATE!! 2018 TV Talkback!!

Herc’s Seen Capt. Kirk & The Fonz Return To BETTER LATE!! 2018 TV Talkback!! Read the full article on AICN The takeaway from tonight’s return of “Better Late Than Never”? For every word George Foreman utters, Terry Bradshaw utters 10,000. By the end of hour one, set entirely in Lithuania (home, we’re told, to Canadian William Shatner’s ancestors), I was rooting for George’s mighty fists to hammer Bradshaw’s jaw closed. If you’ve not seen the series, it’s about Shatner and Henry Winkler accompanying a pair of retired gentile athletes on their visits to wildly inauthentic tourist traps around the world. New Year’s Eve TV Celebrations Drop The Ball On Memorable Moments

Mariah sang, the ball dropped on time, Kathy Griffin wasn’t there, and Steve Harvey made a faux pas that drew some online reaction. That was the sum total of New Year’s Eve online and off, as 2018 arrived with less bombast than past year-end celebrations. There was little water-cooler fodder, as the overwhelming cold of Times Square may have frozen some of the usual energy. On CNN , Andy Cohen complained bitterly about how cold he was, making his debut as Anderson Cooper ’s… Deadline http://ift.tt/2qbd3F0 January 01, 2018 at 06:11AM

The Alter of Tea

Tea is an integral part of life for many people. As such, it deserves a sacred space at home where it can be prepared and enjoyed. That’s the idea behind Lotus. Of course, the set includes an elegant pot and cups for serving, however, it also features an ornate desk dedicated to storing or displaying your tea set. The beautiful lotus flower grill located on the surface of the top serves as a drainage area where you can dispense tea leaves when you’re finished. As for the ceramics, the pot features 3 interchangeable, artistic toppers that denote the type of tea and are an extension of oriental tea culture. The first is a lotus for healthy, stable mind. The second is pomegranate for fertility and solidarity. The third is heavenly water, considered sacred and pure. Tea leaves can also be stored in the removable handle that doubles as a container. Simply snap off, dispense your desired leaves, place the corresponding topper to steep, and enjoy. Designers: JuYoung Kim & Chang Choi

Recreational Marijuana Legalized In California Jan. 1, But New Law Is Smoky

Marijuana, the recreational drug that has launched a thousand comedy and dramatic bits on TV and film, will become legal in California as of January 1st. Now the problem is navigating the crazy-quilt of regulations and law enforcement that will still govern marijuana’s use and possession in the state. Thanks to the passage of Proposition 64 in November, 2016, legalizing the sale and cultivation of recreational marijuana for adults, California will be the biggest state to… Deadline http://ift.tt/2CiWZH6 January 01, 2018 at 02:01AM

NFL Anthem Protests Week 17 – Regular Season Ends, But Problems Still Linger

Former New York Giants football coach Bill Parcells had a maxim that he used when people would talk about how losing teams were actually better than they appeared: “You are what your record says you are.” In this final weekend of the 2017 regular season for the National Football League, we should remember those words as we head into the post-season. For no matter how the hoopla of the playoffs and the Super Bowl may disguise it, the league is in trouble, based on its… Deadline http://ift.tt/2q3qBm9 January 01, 2018 at 12:32AM

Is Traffic Driving Up the Wall

Everyone has come to that point when driving that Google Maps has told you that you’re in the middle of a building. It has been a problem for me in the past, but with the Ventooz, I feel it’s going to be a more accurate representation of my position. Designed for Disney’s wall climbing robot, Vertigo, the Ventooz is a scaled up version that is built for some high speed, high altitude wall climbing. The vehicle features suction cup covered wheels and four powerful fans that can point in any direction and propel the vehicle downwards, enabling it to stick to walls. For anyone who suffers from vertigo, I can assure you; this vehicle will climb a building’s wall so quick you won’t even get a chance to feel ill. As Juan Garcia Mansilla says, “just strap on the 4- point harness and up you go!” I guess that’s easier said than done Juan, but for any of you adrenaline junkies out there, this could be your next challenge. Life-Size Cardboard Sculptures of Chinese Villagers Tap Into Artist Warren King’s Ancestral Heritage

Warren King began sculpting with cardboard as an attempt to add fantasy to the lives of his children, creatively crafting masks and helmets out of the recyclable material. This slowly evolved into a more time-consuming arts practice as King began focusing less time on costumes, and more time making large sculptures of his own. After a visit to his grandparents’ village in Shaoxing, China, the New York City-based artist felt compelled to more deeply connect with his cultural past. This sparked Grandfather’s Friend, and Arrival Times , a series of life-size cardboard recreations of his ancestors.   “During my first visit to China about 7 years ago, I visited the village and spoke with residents who actually remembered my grandparents from over 50 years ago,” said King. “It was a pivotal experience for me, one that inspired me to become an artist. Through my work, I am attempting to understand the fragile connections to people and culture, and examine whether those connections, once b
