Through The Lens Of Masha Demianova

Not at all HG Wells' THE INVISIBLE MAN, but Leigh Whannell's INVISIBLE MAN packs a wallop!

He's watching you right now Read the full article on AICN Hey folks, Harry here...   2018's UPGRADE by Leigh Whannell was one of them low budget out of left field genre delights that not only knocked my socks off, but washed and ironed them too.   Shortly after it made geeks fave of the year lists, it was announced that Leigh would be directing a remake, of what I personally hold as my favorite Universal Horror film...    1933's classic James Whale production of HG Wells' THE INVISIBLE MAN starring the irreplaceable Claude Rains. What is it about this film that just makes me go gaga?  It is the meglomaniacal rantings of the scientist driven mad by the chemicals that turned him invisible.  Whale's whale of a tale can barely take its lens off of Rains' unseen glee.   Tis a perfect film, timeless and something I seriously feel will never be topped - though it has been tried. In my mind, if I were remaking Wells' story for the modern day, he'd hold the w

Films I loved in February 2020

Waad Al-Kateab in For Sama For Sama is an extraordinary documentary, consisting of footage taken by filmmaker Waad Al-Kateab while raising her infant daughter in Aleppo during the appalling violence and chaos of the Syrian Civil War. It delivers a unique perspective that is confronting, but also profoundly humane. Released in Australian cinemas 6 February 2020 Willem Dafoe as Thomas Wake and Robert Pattinson as Ephraim Winslow in The Lighthouse Hallucinogenic, claustrophobic and often surprisingly funny, The Lighthouse is a beautifully textured odd-couple film that mutates into psychological horror as two lighthouse keepers in the 1890s lose their minds; questioning what and who is or isn’t real. It’s intense and a lot of fun. Released in Australian cinemas 6 February 2020 Daisy Axon as Candice Phee and Wesley Patten as Douglas Benson in H Is for Happiness The warm and charming Australian coming-of-age film H Is for Happiness deftly balances humour and its protagonist’s

Read the full article on AICN One of my favorite things about this site is getting to shine a light on films that might otherwise get lost in the fray, and GOLD DUST definitely looks like an upcoming release that deserves a little love. ‘Day of the Dead’ TV Series Dawning at Syfy with Straight-to-Series Order

George A. Romero’s  Day of the Dead is finding new life – as a TV series. Syfy just gave a 10-episode straight-to-series order to a Day of the Dead TV show based on Romero’s film of the same name. While it shares the same title as Romero’s classic, the storyline is a bit different, focusing on six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead outbreak. Deadline says Syfy just ordered a  Day of the Dead show straight-to-series, and I’m surprised this hasn’t happened sooner. After all,  The Walking Dead – which owes  a lot to Romero’s zombie films – is a mega-hit, spawning numerous spin-offs , a forthcoming movie , and more. It was only a matter of time before someone decided to use Romero’s work to get in on that action. The series is described as “the intense story of six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. This ode to Romero’s famous flesh-eaters reminds us that sometimes all it takes to bring people together is a horde of hung

‘Mulan’ Remake Features a New Recording of “Reflection” by Christina Aguilera

Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Mulan  may not share a lot in common with its animated counterpart, but one thing it will share is the best Disney song: Christina Aguilera ‘s “Reflection.” The ballad that the pop singer recorded for the 1998 Disney movie (and which subsequently helped launch her career) was the sweeping centerpiece for the film and remains one of its most iconic songs. But while fans may gripe over Mulan not being a musical, they will at least get the chance to hear a new version of “Reflection” recorded by Aguilera herself. During a performance at her Las Vegas residency Xperience (via CBR ), Aguilera announced that she recorded a new version of “Reflection” along with some “new material” for the live-action remake of  Mulan . “The live-action Mulan is coming out by the way,” she told the crowd. “You have to go see it. I recorded a new ‘Reflection’ and new material for the movie. I’ve been working on that, but this is the original.” The beloved song and

The Bentley Centanne concept encases the riders with a panoramic all-glass top

Almost like a convertible, but with an all-glass top, the Bentley Centanne literally captures the feeling of driving under the stars. The bespoke ‘grand tourer’ concept comes with a design that flows from start to end in the iconic powerful olive green, and with a panoramic glass top that cascades from the windshield all the way to the rear of the vehicle in a spectacular fashion. The front grill features an embossed 8, doing a hat-tip to the Le Mans 8. The coupe seats two at the front, but also features a loveseat at the rear of the vehicle so they can enjoy the view without leaving the car. The glass at the rear opens up into two (quite like the wings on a ladybird), to allow access to the back in a way that transforms the car into less of a vehicle and more of interactive space for riders to socialize in. Designed as a carriage for the core Bentley audience, the car caters to the people who crave luxury on wheels. Its rear seating fundamentally changes the relationship between car
