Extrapolations: Diane Lane, Murray Bartlett, And More Board Star-Studded Apple TV+ Anthology Series

Did the film "Don't Look Up" not have enough stars for you? I'm not sure how that's possible, but I'm not judging you. Fear not, celebrity-loving friends! There is a show coming out that has even more. So many stars it makes my head spin a bit. There are eight new cast members for the upcoming series "Extrapolations" over at Apple, according to Variety. There will be eight episodes and it's an anthology series rather than a serialized story, so at least everyone won't be vying for screen time all at once.

The new cast members for the series about climate change include Murray Bartlett ("The White Lotus," the new season of "Physical"), Yara Shahidi ("Black-ish," "Grown-ish"), Diane Lane ("Y the Last Man," "Under the Tuscan Sun"), Heather Graham ("Boogie Nights"), Grammy Award-winner Ben Harper, Judd Hirsch ("Uncut Gems"), Hari Nef ("Transparent"), and Neska Rose ("Drama Club"). Whew! Wait until you hear who they're joining in the cast!

So. Many. Stars!

Hold onto your hats, because here we go! The eight actors mentioned will join previously-announced cast members Meryl Streep, Matthew Rhys, Eiza González, Tobey Maguire, Gemma Chan, Marion Cotillard, Forest Whitaker, Edward Norton, Daveed Diggs, Kit Harington, Sienna Miller, Tahar Rahim, David Schwimmer, Adarsh Gouray, Indira Varma, Keri Russell, Cherry Jones, and Michael Gandolfini. I just tried saying that list in one breath and it was hard.

The eight episodes will be interconnected and the series is currently in production. "Extrapolations" comes to us from writer Scott Z. Burns, who will also direct and executive produce the anthology. Other executive producers include Michael Ellenberg through Media Res, and Lindsey Springer, Greg Jacobs, and Dorothy Fortenberry.

In an earlier /Film report, we got info about the characters that some of the aforementioned cast members will be playing:

Harington will be playing an industrial CEO, Miller will be playing a marine biologist, Norton will be playing a scientist, and Gandolfini will be playing a computer programmer who also happens to be Norton's son.

Climate change is a big issue, and a cast like this will certainly get noticed. It's a stellar set of actors here, and anything that gets eyes on the destruction of our planet is a good thing. Meryl Streep also appeared in "Don't Look Up" if you recall, and I'm sitting here wondering if the woman ever sleeps.

We don't have any information on a release date for "Extrapolations" yet, but there is no way we're not going to hear about it non-stop with all these names attached.

‘Fear Street’ Spoiler Review: Netflix’s Horror Trilogy Mines Nostalgia While Looking to the Future

Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy, a three-week spree of crimes against innocent Shadysiders, ended on Friday. It’s possibly the biggest slasher-movie event since the 2018 Halloween broke box-office records for its franchise and production company. There have been other slasher flicks since then; the bloody body-swap Freaky comes to mind as one genre torch-bearer, seen mostly on VOD late last year. However, with its staggered release pattern — instant summer sequels, now available to stream! —  Fear Street  has built up a sustained momentum this month that goes unmatched by other recent entries in the genre. We took a non-spoiler look at all three  Fear Street films as they launched:  Part One: 1994  on July 2,  Part Two: 1978  on July 9, and Part Three: 1666  on July 16. Now, as the dust settles in the town of Shadyside, we’re ready to dive into the deep end with a spoiler-filled look at the plot twists, character deaths, and buried themes of the whole decade-hopping trilogy. Yes, ‘Eternals’ Will Explain Why These Superheroes Didn’t Help Out During ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Eternals  may become the latest example of the many balancing acts that any shared universe will inevitably be asked to navigate. After all, constructing a timeline with a lived-in sense of history must stand up to scrutiny. While fans should generally approach movies with the benefit of the doubt (these are, after all, fictional works made up by human beings rather than an actual historical retelling), creators tend to obsess over these sorts of details. That’s why Marvel producers Nate Moore and Kevin Feige offer reassurances that there’s a very good canonical reason the Eternals didn’t bother showing up to help Captain America fight Thanos. Entertainment Weekly  has the lowdown on all aspects of Eternals , from director Chloe Zhao’s  influences to introductions for each of the main heroes. There’s also an interesting nugget included in the cover story about the movie’s place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Described as “…largely a standalone story, focusing specifically on th
